What was special about the women in Jesus' genealogy??

The women mentioned in Jesus' genealogy are remarkable:

  • Tamar – A Canaanite who bore children from her father-in-law Judah (Genesis 38:1-3)
  • Rahab – A Canaanite harlot (1 Chronicles 2:11)
  • Ruth – A Moabite who became Boaz's wife through Levirate marriage (Ruth 3)
  • Bathsheba – The wife of Uriah, the Hitite and the mother of Solomon
  • None of these women follows a straight line of lineage, showing that the history leading to Jesus is God's history of waiting for the perfect woman, ultimately fulfilled in Mary.

Do Christians and Muslims worship the same God?

The Muslim and Christian views of God have some similarities. Christians believe in one eternal God Who created the universe, and Muslims apply these attributes to Allah. Before we can understand the person of Allah, we need to understand his name first. Muslims try to make us believe that Allah is the same as the God of Christianity and of Moses. They even try to convince us that Allah is an Aramaic word and that Jesus used it when he spoke in Aramaic. How true is this claim? When the movie “The Passion of the Christ” came out some years ago, Muslims took clips from the movie in which Jesus spoke Aramaic saying the name of God. They then used those clips to create their own videos to prove their claim that the name Allah, is indeed Aramaic. The Aramaic word they were trying to adopt is Elah, El not Al like Allah. Here’s a quick and easy study in Qur'an 4:125: اليِلَخَميِهاَرْبِإ ُهَللّٱَُذَخَّتٱَواافيِنَحَميِهََٰرْبِإَةَّلِمَعَبَّتاوٌنِسْحُمَوُهَو للُُّهَهْجَوَمَلْسَأْنَّمِماانيِدُنَسْحَأْنَمَو In Qur’an 4:125, there are two words for Allah, but they do not mean the same. If you don’t know Arabic, you will not notice much difference between the two words except one letter, but actually their difference is much more than that. The first one isللّ (lillah) and the second one isُهَللّٱ (Allah). In Arabic, al means the, so if we take Al away from Allah and lil away from lillah, that leaves us with lah (god), a word that is common to both names. In fact, lah was the name for the moon-god, the main Egyptian god and a god being worshiped by the Arabs. In English, lillah translates to to god and Allah translates to the god. Lil Lah = للّ Al Lah = ُهَللّٱ.
